Oxford Smart Activate
I have used the Activate books 1 & 2 in schools and can personally vouch for them! I find them to be engaging and thorough with a diverse range of activities. These KS3 textbooks are the most commonly used in mainstream education but please be advised, they do not contain worksheets.

Books 1 & 2 are designed to cover KS3 in two years with Activate 3 designed specifically to "motivate and inspire students to think like a scientist and see themselves as future scientists".
Oxford Activate - Subject Specific
These books are an excellent alternative to the Smart Activate books, particularly if you know your child will only be studying certain sciences at GCSE level.
Each book is split into 3 sections with the first 2 designed to cover the KS3 curriculum for that subject in 2 years and the third section designed for contextual consolidation and extension of content.
